The fact that it took just over four months before a patient got the right diagnosis at one of the county's hospitals is now reported to the Inspectorate for Health and Care Services, IVO.

The patient was referred from a care center to the ear clinic because of a lump on the neck. According to guidelines, this should lead to a standardized care course and rapid investigation, but this did not happen in this case. Instead, the patient had to wait for four and a half months for the diagnosis of tonsil cancer.

Whether the late diagnosis will affect the patient is, according to the region, not ensured, but the patient has now received treatment and the case has been reported.
