Investigation in Italy about missing children from Växjö

In 2016, a father disappeared with his four children from Växjö. Since then, the mother of the children has struggled to meet her children again.

Last autumn, information came that the man brought the children to Syria via Italy.

The district court in Växjö then arrested the man in his absence. He was suspected of gross empowerment with children and a European arrest warrant was issued.

Now the children is nowhere to be found but the arrest decision in Växjö has now been canceled when the case is in Italian court.

– Italian authorities did not enforce the extradition of the suspected man under the European arrest warrant. According to the judgment in the Appellate Court in Bologna, there is a criminal proceeding in Italy concerning the same crime, prosecutor Marcus Sjöstrand told Smålandsposten.
