After the parking chaos - the municipality presents a time limit

Trade in the center of Växjö has been hit hard due to the coronavirus. Växjö Municipality has therefore introduced free parking for three months. But the measure that would have favored the center trade has instead entailed congestion and mis-parked cars. Since the purpose has not been achieved, time limits of max. Three hours are now being introduced in the parking at Stortorget and Teatertorget in Växjö center.

– By time-regulating the city-center parking, we now hope that those who have a case in town can find a parking space and be able to execute their cases without having to drive around and look for parking space and they can thus benefit the downtown trade, says Sofia Stynsberg (M), Chairman of the Technical Committee.

In addition, goods delivery times on the pedestrian streets in the center of Växjö are extended until 1 pm temporarily. It should also facilitate trade and be adapted to the stores' reduced opening hours.
