Bicycles are being transported away in Växjö

The time has arrived for spring control of bicycles parked in the center of Växjö. Checks have been initiated and bicycles parked in the same place for more than three weeks will be transported away.

Checks are made to create more vacant spaces in the bicycle parking and improve accessibility in the city center. A patch will be put on all bikes and the bikes that have the patch and remain in the same place for more than three weeks will be transported to Växjö Bildemontering.

At the same time, we need to ensure that there are good opportunities to park their bicycle in the city and that parked bicycles will not be an obstacle to traffic and pedestrians. Bicycles that are outside bicycle racks, for example, can create problems for people with different types of disabilities and even emergency vehicles can be difficult to come by. Therefore, we will make closer checks of parked bicycles in Växjö in the future, says some Magnus Nykvist, traffic engineer at Växjö municipality.
