Corona: The first death in Kronoberg

On Monday, Alvesta Municipality announced that Kronoberg County has had its first death, which can be linked to Covid-19. It is a person at a retirement home in Alvesta that has passed away.

– The deceased lived in the ward, where we have already confirmed cases of Covid-19. All sufferers were immediately isolated in their own apartments as soon as they exhibited symptoms breathing difficulties. The current unit is also closed and the staff does not stay or work anywhere else during their work session. Due to the medical confidentiality, we cannot identify the affected business and therefore we cannot also inform other residents' relatives, says Anneli Loberg, head of the Care Administration.

Due to confidentiality, Alvesta municipality does not want to tell when the person died or at what accommodation.

– It is a serious infection for people in this target group, and we have been aware that it was only a matter of time before we would have our first death, but of course it feels heavy, says Anneli Loberg.
