COVID-19 the invisible enemy
Recently There is much talk about the Corona virus, and there are a lot of rumors about it. The spread of this epidemic has become people's talk on social media with abundant rumors and predictions. Everyone now analyzes and explains it according to his or her orientation. Since the first day of the spread of Corona virus in China, people have returned to talk about conspiracy theory and biological war. Until the matter reached accusations between politicians at the countries level. While the vegetarians believe that the cause of the spread of the virus is due to eating animals, and those interested in environmental affairs believe that the cause of the emergence of the virus is global warming.
In fact, the media has managed to amplify the spread of the Corona virus and sow fear and panic among people. While it could not play the same role in highlighting the wars and massacres being committed against innocent people in Yemen and Syria and the displacement of millions of people. Perhaps if the media had shed light on the crimes committed there in same way as the Corona virus, it would have been able to play a positive role in stopping the war that has been raging for a few years. The thing is, when the danger is close to us, we can feel more about it. For example, when we heard about the spread of the disease in China, we used to hear this news with a comfortable chest because the danger was still far away, but certainly we were not comfortable when we heard that the disease had become in Italy. We felt terrified when we heard of the first case of infection in Sweden. This is the equation is that the closer danger, the more fear and panic. wherefore the spread of the virus created panic in the world. The streets are closed, the cities are empty, companies and government departments stopped working, and the activities and events that were planned months ago are canceled as well. This is accompanied by a major economic collapse. The emergence of this virus confused the world and became the invisible enemy that cut the connection between parts of the world. But it united politically opposing governments to eliminate it.
Amid all this noise, I feel like I am living a troubling nightmare as I see people rushing to empty stores of all food in an intention to close their doors on themselves for fear of transmission. And I stand idly by in this crisis and try to find a reason for fear and panic or I try to compare between what is happening now with a more difficult crisis than this I went through and there are still millions of people living it. It is my contemporary of war in my country. Air strikes destroy residential neighborhoods, and another tanks shell fire on residential neighborhoods, as well as markets, hospitals and schools. And every day there are dozens of victims who die in the most horrific ways that you can imagine, and they are still dying until today in the same way, let alone a thousand who die of starvation and the spread of epidemic. But I have not seen this panic we are experiencing today due to the spread of the Corona virus. We did not empty the groceries from stock, we did not lock ourselves in our homes, and we did not dig basements to protect ourselves from shelling. Rather, we lived our lives naturally, as if nothing happened, because we are people who believe in destiny and on this basis, we deal with all the misfortunes of life.
I am certain that there are many people who think that they have contracted the disease as soon as he or she feels any other symptoms that may have been symptoms of a cold or something else. I do not deny that I am one of them. There are some who fancy feeling symptoms too. This in itself is a fatal disease. Because people may die from the psychological condition, they live in by suspecting illness. I am not saying here that we should not be wary of the disease, nor deny that the disease is frightening and has claimed many lives, but a thousand people have recovered from it too. So, there must be a balance between caution and fear and panic from injury. Because fear of disease is more deadly than disease itself.
