For several years, the Swedish Transport Administration has been working on building a new meeting station for trains in Skruv. Now it is ready and with it there will be fewer disturbances on the coast to the coastal path between Alvesta and Kalmar.

– As the capacity is now improved on the route, it creates conditions for train traffic to work better. The meeting station facilitates faster trains to drive around slower trains, which means that any delays can be solved in a smoother manner and there will be less disturbance for train passengers, says the Swedish Transport Administration's project manager Henrik Andersson.

There is no train stop in the society Skruv, but the changes still affect the inhabitants. In connection with the project, a pedestrian and bicycle tunnel has been built under the railway.

– The tunnel replaces a crossing that has existed there before, so now it will be safer for both pedestrians and cyclists to cross the railway, says Henrik Andersson.
