Girls Elite Cup in Växjö is cancelled

Every year, Växjö DFF organizes the football cup Girls Elite Cup for F17 teams. For the 2020 tournament, Växjö would have been visited by Swedish and European top teams, but due to the coronavirus the event is cancelled. According to a press release, the foreign teams has received restrictions that deny them permission to go to Sweden.

– An extremely tedious, but at the same time obvious, decision under prevailing circumstances. After 10 months of planning and preparation, we all looked forward to the best edition of the Girls Elite Cup so far. We hoped at the last that we could conduct the tournament but the consequences of the development of the Coronavirus have now become far too great. Health, risk of increased contagion and the safety of participating teams must take precedence over everything else, says Girls Elite Cup project manager Mats Danielsson.

The Girls Elite Cup should have been going on March 28-29.
