Kronoberg's population is increasing

Kronoberg's population is increasing and this is mainly due to the fact that Växjö is growing faster than expected. According to the forecast from the planning office in 2017, the figure for Växjö would be 93,860 in 2019. But the expansion is slightly faster than expected and is 94,129. If the forecast is correct, Växjö will have 100,000 inhabitants by 2024.

Kronoberg now has 201 469 inhabitants. Växjö increased its population by 1,562 people, while Alvesta and Lessebo decreased. Alvesta has 20 134 inhabitants after having 16 fewer people living in the municipality compared to the previous year. Lessebo lost 47 inhabitants to 8,733 people.
