Large building plans can be stopped - concerns about increased segregation

SBB Mjärden wants to build 150 new apartments on Kringelvägen on Hov. The plan is to build the housing right next to the apartment houses with 450 apartments that are located there today.

According to Smålandsposten, the property owner has applied for permission, but the proposal for a decision at an upcoming meeting with the municipal council's working committee is to say no. The municipality first wants to find out whether it is appropriate to build more apartments there, since it is a residential area which, according to the decision basis "is characterized by low median income and a relatively widespread housing shortage".

There is concern that the densification could lead to increased ethnic and socio-economic segregation, writes Smålandsposten.
