National Day celebrations in Linnéparken are cancelled

National Day celebrations in Växjö will be different this year due to prevailing circumstances. Växjö Municipality has therefore decided to invest in a digital national day celebration.

– When people can't leave their homes to meet, we have to meet people in their home, says Bo Frank (M), chairman of the municipal council and mayor of Växjö municipality.

There will be no celebration in Linnéparken. On the other hand, the traditional elements such as song, speech and invited guests will happen during the digital national day celebration.

– We hope that it will be a fun and festive celebration even though this year is going digital and not in Linnéparken as usual. But at the same time, those who usually come and celebrate with us in Linnéparken will recognize the program, says Tomas Ekelius, head of cultural and leisure management in the municipality of Växjö.

The center of Växjö will also be adorned with, among other things, flags across Storgatan.
