The Swedish Transport Administration will rebuild the highway 25, west of Alvesta. By widening the road on the route between Sjöatorpsrondellen and Alvesta to thirteen meters, redesigning it to 2 + 1-way and setting up the central barrier and wildlife fence, the Swedish Transport Administration wants to make the national road safer. The speed can also be raised from 80 to 100 kilometers per hour.

The extensive rebuilding of the approximately three-kilometer stretch can take up to two years. According to Smålandsposten, a new traffic point is also planned at the exit to Hjortsberga with bus stops, commuter parking and a traffic control site.

According to the established road plan, which has not gained legal force and may be appealed, the construction project is planned to start in 2021.
