New airline from Växjö
At the end of May, the German airline Eurowings will start flying directly between Düsseldorf and Växjö Småland Airport. From May 21, there will be two flights a week, Thursdays and Sundays.
– It is fantastic news for the people of Southeast Sweden. To welcome another European airline to this region and Växjö Småland Airport. Germany is an extremely important market for incoming passengers, for both the hospitality industry and the business community. Düsseldorf thus becomes the airport's second German destination with a direct line, says Ulf Axelsson, CEO of Växjö Småland Airport.
Eurowings is a wholly owned subsidiary of German giant Lufthansa. From the airport in Düsseldorf, there are around 40 connections with Eurowings, mainly in Europe.
Previously, Ryanair flew between Växjö and Düsseldorf Weeze. But for commercial reasons, the airline chose to close the airline from June 1, 2018.
