New bicycle crossings are being built in Växjö

In October, Växjö Municipality will build new bicycle crossings in Växjö. The new bicycle crossings are being built at Hovshaga center in line with the new roundabout (two crossings), Vingavägen, Brittsommarvägen and two along the main cycle path to Sandsbro, Pinnmovägen and Deltavägen.

– The goal for the municipality of Växjö is to increase the proportion of bicycle travel by 24 percent by 2020. In order to reach the goal, cycling in Växjö needs to be fast, easy, convenient and above all traffic-safe. Therefore, we are now increasing the number of bicycle crossings in the city, says Sofia Stynsberg (M), chair of the technical committee.

The crossings can be likened to pedestrian crossings, where motorists have a weight obligation to cyclists.
