New fire department is planned

Värends emergency services need to strengthen their capacity in Alvesta and West Växjö. The rescue service has the ambition to be in place where it happens within ten minutes, which they do not succeed with everywhere in Alvesta.

Now, a full-time fire brigade is planned at the industrial area Björnstorp outside Alvesta on highway 25.

– We already said when the ambulance established a station at Björnstorp that it was an attractive place for us too. If there is a little messy traffic in Växjö then the ambulance at Björnstorp reaches faster to Öjaby than the one that starts from the hospital, says Joakim Karlsson, rescue manager at Värends rescue service, to Smålandsposten.

A new fire station can be in place no earlier than 2022 according to the assessment.
