New lake is planned in Växjö

A new lake is planned in Skir's village. In the village there was previously a lake between 30 and 40 hectares, which was built in the 1920s.

- This will be smaller, but we hope that the wetland will be a few thousand square meters. It will be a beautiful place and the goal is to increase biodiversity. It will be wonderful for birds, amphibians and insects. This will be a nice project when we are ready, says Andreas Hedrén, marine environment manager at Växjö Municipality, to Smålandsposten.

The municipality will have to look for traces of water as vegetation has taken over the place. But it will not be a lake that people should swim in. According to Andreas Hedrén, the water will be very brown and not bath friendly.

The idea is that the lake should reduce the nutrient phosphorus to the drum and reduce algal bloom.
