The results of this year's safety survey in Växjö have been presented. It shows improved results compared to last year.

Among other things, the number of victims of crime last year has dropped from 19 to 15 percent. Växjö municipality has a good result when compared to the entire Kalmar/Kronoberg area.

– It is important to point out that Växjö in total has good numbers and we see small improvements in several areas. For example, we feel less secure and we have slightly better figures for the Araby area. But we have several challenges that we know about. The survey is a good tool that puts our finger on what we need to prioritize, says Jonas Eek, local police area manager Växjö and Alvesta municipalities, in a press release.

2,700 randomly selected local residents have responded to the survey, which shows that a continued high percentage in Araby feels unsafe to stay out in the evening. In Araby, one in five respondents also state that they are afraid of a specific person. Youth gangs that are troubling and disrupting the order continue to be a problem, even though the figure is declining.
