Security hosts are introduced in Växjö municipality
In order to increase security in, among other places, Växjö center and at Teleborg, Växjö Municipality will introduce security hosts, who through their presence will contribute to reducing the turbulence in public places.
– Introducing security guards now becomes a good and concrete measure. With security hosts, we increase the presence of adults in, for example, Växjö center, but also in other priority areas and where needed during times when perceived as unsafe, says Anna Tenje (M), chair of the municipal council.
The security guards will primarily focus on Växjö center and Teleborg / Campus, but will also be able to work in other parts of the municipality where needs arise. According to the municipality of Växjö, four security guards will serve in the Växjö center Monday to Friday at 14.00-20.00 and Saturdays between 11.00-16.00. At Teleborg, two security hosts will serve Monday to Saturday from 15.00 to 22.00.
– The need for measures to increase security has emerged in all citizen dialogues and direct meetings that the municipality of Växjö has conducted before the development of our new sustainability program. Here, the need for increased security is constantly coming back to residents, says Magnus P Wåhlin (MP), chairman of the municipality's sustainability committee.
A formal decision on security guards in the municipality of Växjö will be taken by the municipal council on May 26.
