The barbecue master opens his own restaurant

This spring, a new restaurant opens at Alvesta Golf Club. It is barbecue master Daniel Belmonte who starts up the Santa Brasa restaurant. It will be the chef's first own restaurant.

Daniel Belmonte from Valencia came to Sweden just over 15 years ago because of love. He has been part of the TV4 program Grillmästarna (The barbecue masters), runs Club Malibu, and as a chef he has worked at Knock 'em Down and in Växjö municipality. Daniel Belmonte now also helps at Trattoria Science Park in Teleborg. This spring awaits the opening of his first own restaurant.

– I am so excited and it feels super fun to have Santa Brasa open on the golf club premises. It is a dream that I have had for so many years and that I have fought so hard for. Finally, I get my first restaurant and I really deserve this.

When Daniel Belmonte worked as a chef in Växjö municipality, one of the managers was a golf player. He was then advised that they needed a new restaurant at Alvesta Golf Club. Later, the golf club president called and asked if he wanted to take over. The idea is that the restaurant should be open every day of the week. There will be lunches with Swedish home cooking and salad buffet Monday through Thursday. On Fridays there will be a barbecue buffet at lunch and on the weekend evenings will be tapas, paella and barbecue served on the plates.

– I'm from Valencia and do what I can. There is really no other tapa's restaurant nearby.

From the start, a couple of people will be hired to help with the restaurant. In addition to the restaurant, Daniel Belmonte will continue his catering business and hold a barbecue school for businesses. There are also plans for live music, football golf and opportunities for the company to organize conferences.

– It's about attracting people to come here. I have to make sure something happens here, says Daniel Belmonte.
