The big chain applies for reconstruction

Intersport Sweden has applied for company restructuring. The company hopes to be able to save operations, jobs and secure a "long-term survival" through reconstruction.

- It is a difficult decision to make, but in the extreme situation we are currently in, it is necessary when all other alternatives are explored. This is an extraordinary measure that we are now forced to and I regret that creditors may be affected, but we are doing this to save jobs and to ensure that the business will survive in the long term. We want to continue to be an important buyer for suppliers, employers for employees, tenants for real estate companies and the best sports chain for our customers, says Marcus Wibergh, CEO of Intersport.

Intersport Sweden today has more than 100 stores, including in Växjö, and 2,000 employees.
