The summer jobs in Lessebo might take place - as long as the corona crisis does not get worse

Because of the ongoing corona pandemic, Lessebo municipality saw that it would be difficult to offer summer jobs to the younger residents. But now it seems like the municipality can offer jobs - as long as the crisis does not get worse.

Every year, young people attending nine grades, first and second year at the high school in Lessebo municipality are offered to apply for summer jobs within the municipality's operations. A couple of weeks ago, City Manager Christina Nyquist announced that the municipality might not be able to do so this year. But now she thinks the job is likely to be arranged as long as the coronavirus's progress does not get worse.

– If the situation becomes very difficult because of the corona virus, we might need to redeploy staff. In that case, we might be forced to cancel the summer jobs at short notice, says Christina Nyquist to Smålandsposten.

But the municipality will not be able to offer jobs in the healthcare.

– We will not have any young workers in the elderly care. However, we will ensure that we create a number of holiday jobs in other businesses, says Christina Nyquist to Smålandsposten.
