Jesper applied to police training straight out of high school, while Anna and Hanna has previous educations behind them as a criminologist and occupational therapist. Now their aim is set on contributing towards society by being a police officer. All three thinks that so far the education in Växjö has fulfilled their expectations, even though there is more theory than they had expected.

– One shortcoming of the education is the amount of training. There arent enough practice facilities to go around which means we have to do certain drills as a whole class rather than in groups.

The reason behind the lack of applicants for the police profession is usually explained by deficient work environment, too low wages and the fact that working as a police officer isnt as prestigious as it once was.

– However people rarely apply for the job based on the wage, although it could see an improvement in prestige.

Why do you want to be police officers?

– Because we have a honest care of what happens in our community, we want to work with people and make a difference. Its pivotal for us.
