Traffic accidents with cyclists are increasing

In 2018, a total of 94 traffic accidents with a bicycle involved were reported in Växjö municipality. According to new statistics, most people involved got mild injuries but a fatal accident occurred.
The accident occurred at the crossing Mörners väg-Ljungadalsgatan when the cyclist was hit from behind by a truck.

The police statistics show that the number of traffic accidents involving cyclists has increased in recent years.
Växjö municipality and the police work preventively to increase the cyclists' traffic safety. 496 shortcomings in existing cycle paths, with pits and high curbs, have been fixed.
