Unemployment increases in the county

In October, Växjö had a total unemployment rate of 7.9 percent. This is an increase compared to the same month last year. The increase is 0.1 percentage points, 130 more people than in October 2018.

3,645 people in the age 16 to 64 were enrolled as job seekers in Växjö Municipality in October this year. In five of Kronoberg's eight municipalities, unemployment increased. The largest increase was in the municipality of Alvesta, where unemployment rose by 1.0 percentage points to 8.6 percent. Lessebo has the highest unemployment rate with 14.7 percent, according to Newsworthy, which refers to the Employment Service's monthly statistics.

However, unemployment among foreign-born continues to decrease. Throughout Kronoberg County, unemployment among residents born in another country has dropped for 23 months in a row.
