Unemployment increasing in Växjö

During December, unemployment in Växjö increased by 0.3 percentage points compared to the same time last year. Växjö has a total unemployment rate of 8.1 percent, reports the news service Newsworthy, which refers to the Employment Service figures.

In December, 3,754 people aged 16 to 64 in Växjö municipality were registered as job seekers, which is a couple of hundred more than in December 2018. Youth unemployment in Växjö municipality has also increased by 0.4 percentage points to 10.1 percent.

However, among foreign-born, unemployment has decreased every month since November 2017. In December, there was a fall in unemployment among residents born in another country of 0.8 percentage points to 24.8 percent. Since November 2017, it has dropped from 27.5 to 24.8 percent.
