Unemployment is rising in Kronoberg

In January, unemployment in Kronoberg County increased by 0.5 percentage points compared to the same time last year. According to the news service Newsworthy and the Employment Service, Kronoberg had a total unemployment rate of 8.5 percent in January and a total of 8,390 persons were registered as job seekers in Kronoberg County.

In Alvesta, unemployment rose for the seventh consecutive month and since June 2019 unemployment has gone from 7.8 to 9.3 percent. Alvesta accounted for the largest increase in Kronoberg County. In Växjö municipality, the unemployment rate has increased by 0.6 percentage points, while the unemployment rate in Lessebo has decreased by 0.5 percentage points compared to the same time last year.

Unemployment among foreign-born people in Kronoberg County is also decreasing.
