As from this year, Växjö municipality is introducing grades qualification for municipal summer jobs for young people. They must have approved grades in mathematics and Swedish to get the right to a municipal summer job.

- If we do not equip the young people for the real labor market while we have the chance when they go to school, we will make Växjö's young people worse. It is not good if we trick young people into believing that it is easy to get a job, because it is not, says Oliver Rosengren (M), chairman of the committee for work and welfare, SVT Småland.

This applies to warranty jobs, the jobs that young people can get if they have not received any other summer job in the municipality or business.

In order to get a holiday job in Växjö you must be registered in Växjö municipality in 2001 or 2002. If they do not have approved grades, they can go to summer school for two weeks and then be eligible to apply for the summer job.

- This will strengthen the driving force for managing high school if you want a guarantee job. If you cannot handle this during your regular school hours, you are offered to participate in summer school and then combine it with a holiday job, says Oliver Rosengren (M) to SVT Småland.
