Want to offer free swimming school

Last year, Växjö Municipality offered a free swimming school for six-year-olds, which were state-financed. It was a great success with about 800 participating children and now the Cultural and Recreation Committee in Växjö municipality wants to finance a continuation.

– The fact that the children already in preschool class get water habits and good conditions for learning to swim is very important. Therefore, we want to build on the work that we have started, says Jon Malmqvist (KD), chairman of the cultural and leisure board.

The free swimming school reached many children, who otherwise had never attended a swimming school and learned to swim. Definitive decision is made at the Cultural and Recreation Board on 27 February.
