We are all equal to the disease - almost
Imagine that something started with some wild animal in a food market that is now testing us and the very core of our basic anatomical and intellectual humanity. We are in the midst of an intense period where more and more people are getting infected and getting sick. People are losing work and income plus grocery stores and pharmacies are starting to run out of basic goods. It is not the Russian coming, no invasion of foreign power or Trump that has bullied and launched a world hell. Nor is it any civil war, rapid war or the government that conspired with this scenario in its grand plan to lower Sweden. It's a little Satan's virus that now scares us all. Who ripped off our clothes and exposed our core, our organism.
A virus tests the very essence of what a country and society can do. Partly how strong it is built but also how strong it is held together by its inhabitants. Our solidarity, our consideration for each other. In front of sars-cov-2 we are all almost equal. It is precisely those in the category almost that I think of. Those whose lives depend on others taking their responsibility. Others themselves are not afraid of this virus. Those who say "it's just an ordinary flu". Who does not see how their actions can affect those who are now afraid of their lives. People who want their bodies to also deal with the coronavirus as a "common flu" but who are terrified inside. They know that for different reasons, their body probably won't handle it that way. We all have someone in our immediate vicinity who belongs to the group at risk of getting seriously ill in the flu, no matter what.
So do you belong to the group that doesn't have to be afraid of your own health? Congratulations! Then make sure you take your responsibility, your human responsibility. Don't act on you more than what you and your family need. No one here is going to starve to death. Do not sstore medicines, hand sanitizers, masks and so on to sell yourself. Help those who are forced to isolate themselves. Stand up for someone who may have lost its work or money. Be a solidarity and humble fellow, we can return to trouble and be disappointed when everything went well.
It is in moments of collective fear that man's finest and ugliest pages appear. We who, for various reasons, have experienced a similar fear in the past know how it can behave. Being reminded of the fragility of life is scary and makes you humble. Now we make sure to stay clean and calm, so we ride out this storm together, somewhat separated. See you on the other side!
