Well-visited family day at Araby

Last Saturday was the premiere of Familjedagen på Araby (The Araby Family Day). It became a well-attended event that included both Zumba, art, Christmas decorations and religious gatherings.

Zumba is a dance-based group training that provides a real adrenaline rush. It's fun to let go, says Artiona, Luljeta Jetullahu, Antonia Teisanu Aguilera and Èva Baláza-Nagy.

Created colorful art with the children made by Stefan Johanson, who is from Chicago but is currently living in Växjö to study design at Linnaeus University.

A white and sparkling Christmas without alcohol, was held by Ninnie Johansson and Monica Dahl of IOGT-NTO who created fun Christmas toys together with the children.

We at the Red Cross work a lot with integration issues so it felt natural to be here on family day at Araby, Nimir Yousif, Elvira Skoglund, Carina Bach and Johannes Aho told us.

Religious summit! Family Day was rounded off with a talk with Bishop Fredrik Modéus and imam Ismail Abu Helal on the theme of humanity, multiculturalism and meetings.
