Art exhibition for children in the Art Gallery in Växjö
On Saturday, a children's art exhibition was held in Konsthall in Växjö, and the exhibition will continue until February 25th. This exhibition is the result of a painting course implemented by Tallgården in the fall, in collaboration with Konsthall and with the support of Väckjö Municipality, targeting children living in Araby.
- We started in the fall, with 15 children, the course was aimed at children who live in Araby. We've been meeting for two hours every Thursday. We were watching the artwork of some painters in order to beg for inspiration. But we focused more on children's ideas. In addition, it was important to let the children express themselves through drawing and experiment with color and mix their own colors. It was also good to provide space and time for children to practice drawing, which they may not have the time and space in their homes. It was also good that we could show the children's work here in Konsthall. Now we are starting another course after Christmas, with a new group of children. We will continue in Tallgården until the summer and if there is a possibility, we will continue for the next year. All children are welcome to join us and experience painting. Says Filippa de Vos, art educator in Konsthall in Växjo and the course coach.
Drawing is not the only activity that Tallgården offers, as there are many activities aimed at children, youth and adults.
– I thought of starting a high-quality drawing course for children in Araby. It was necessary to find a leader and an art educator. So I reached out to Konsthall, and after that I met Filippa and we started implementing the course. Besides this Activity We have other activities such as Loppis to sell used things in order to preserve the environment and we also have an exchange day of taking used things that people no longer want to use. In addition to the activities that we hold during the holidays for children and adults. We also have cooperation with Araby park arena, Studiefrämjandet, Konsthall, the municipality of Växjö, Save the Children and others. Zainab Almansor, the initiator of the drawing course and responsible for communication at Tallgården, says.
