On December 10, award winners, royalty, ministers, members of the Nobel Foundation and others invited to the table will sit in the Blue Hall in Stockholm City Hall for the solemn Nobel party.

About 1,400 guests will be served and one of those who will be a part of the staff is from Växjö, Samdri Vairagi.

– I have long thought about what it would be like to serve at the Nobel dinner. It is, after all, one of the dinners that is talked about and planned most in the world. Serving so many people at the same time is a challenge and being a part of it feels very exciting.Far from what you do on a daily basis or what I have done before. I've had well-planned dinners, but never in that size, he says.

Samdri Vairagi is one of the people behind the restaurant Kafé de luxe. He has held several different duties until he became a partner in October 2017.

How did you get the assignment to serve at the Nobel party?

– I emailed them, told them what I do today, the restaurants I've worked on before and asked if they needed help on December 10.

The Nobel Party lasts for several hours and there is a large staff force required to serve all guests.

– We will be 240 waiters and 10 court masters.

Are you nervous?

– A little nervous you will probably be when it's time for the dessert parade down the stairs. But mostly excitement. Fun to be a part of such a great teamwork.
