The school choice in Växjö is changing

The school choice for the children and pupils who will start preschool class and grade seven will change during the autumn semester of 2020. Primary schools' admission areas disappear and guardians should make a school choice for their child.

– Everyone should have the same opportunity to apply for the school they want and I see the change in the school choice as a step in the direction of opening up our society. The change means that all students who start grade seven have the same opportunity to gain a place on the nature and technology orientation of the Fagrabäcks school and Växjö International Baccalaureate elementary school (IB), says Torgny Klasson (L), vice chairman of the education board.

The changed school choice should give better freedom of choice.

– With this change, the choice of school becomes more legal and the custodians have the opportunity to influence the child's school placement, says Anders Elingfors, head of education administration.
